The night before we flew, the first snow of the season fell and it created the most beautiful textures with the black sand.

The glacial waters carve out their braids. It’s equally delicate and fearsome to behold.

One of the most incredible experiences I’ve had was flying over Iceland in a tiny plane with @volcanopilot. It was the most prolific couple of hours of photography I’ve ever experienced. Nature at its most beautifully artistic!

The colours were incredible. Rivers of different hues that melded together, and sands shifted by their flow. The richness of detail was like nothing I’ve seen in nature before.

Seeing this from above, you can’t help but be reminded that the planet has been moving and shaping itself for millions of years, and will continue to do so after we are long gone.

Mother nature has a palate full of colours to play with, but even when she goes monochrome, she cannot be bettered. The textures in this landscape are detail enough.

I don’t know if it was the colour of the water, the early morning light, or a combination of both that created this appearance of molten gold. Whatever it was, it was a sight to behold!

Dancing its way rhythmically across the landscape, like a gymnast dancing with ribbons

The colourful rivers make their way to sea, mixing with sea water. The colour resembles petrol and looks beautiful as it crashes on the black sand beaches.
